Here are a variety of Links with information on Wetlands
Audubon Society Wetlands Page – Good Basic Wetlands Information
The United States Code – Two sources for every law of the land. No really!
US House of Representatives
Cornell University Legal Information Institute
Department of the Interior Report to Congress “The Impact of Federal Programs on Wetlands” – Very informative. Apparently they did not think anyone would read it as at times it is quite critical of current policy.
Ducks Unlimited Website – Even if you object to hunting this is an informative site and includes and excellent analysis of the SWANCC ruling:
Main wetlands page
EPA Wetlands Homepage
Federal Highway Administration Policy Memorandums – This provides access to a range of FHWA policies including those regarding wetlands.
Corps of Engineers Proposal to Reissue and Modify Nationwide Permits – 2001
FWS National Wetlands Inventory – A very technical site that includes the ability to download quad maps if you have the GIS software to do so. (Not many people do, so don’t feel too bad if you can’t!)
PASPGP-1 Monitoring Report – Corps report on the status of Pennsylvania’s SPGP activities. Please note that PASPGP-1 has been replaced with PASPGP-2 but this document provides historical data relative to Pennsylvania’s compliance with CWA provisions.
Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual (1987) – This is the complete “bible” for wetland delineation in a PDF format. It takes a while to download so be patient.
Regulatory Takings and Proposals for Change – Prepared by Congressional Budget Office (1998). Provides interesting information on the issue of regulatory takings.
Takings from a Property Rights Perspective - A law professor’s view of the meaning and impact of Lucus v. South Carolina Coastal Council on regulatory takings.
Report to Congress on the Status and Trends of Wetlands – Prepared by the FWS. Must reading for the serious wetland advocate. These are large documents and may take awhile to download. Mid 1970s to Mid 1980s
Abstracts from the Society of Wetland Scientists – VERY technical and the entries are listed by volume number not subject making it difficult to navigate. However, there is a wealth of information available at this site that is not available anywhere else.
National Wetlands Research Center Home Page – Part of the USGS, the NWRC site provides a wealth of information, some of it very technical. Their “Fact Sheets” section is particularly useful.
Chesapeake Bay Watershed Restoration Program Main Page – This is a very well done site with a great deal of useful information regarding the bay and its watershed which includes a large portion of Pennsylvania.
NRCS Soil Site - Contains more information on soils than you ever thought possible. They even provide a “Offical Series Descriptions” section which allows one to enter a specific soil name and get the standard descriptions and characteristics of that soil type.
Sierra Club Wetlands Page – Always a good source for information.
